Quiet Waters Park. Morning & Evening Tours

Times: Fridays 6-8pm, Saturdays 7:30-9:30am & 6-8pm, Sundays 7:30-9:30am

Location: Paddle or Pedal Rentals, Quiet Waters Park

Take part in a 2 hour guided tour of Harness Creek and the South River. Early Morning and Evening Paddles are scheduled every weekend all season long. Enjoy tranquil settings to open water views and sightings of blue Heron, deer, osprey and more. Brief instruction included for beginners. Quiet Waters Park

Course: Basic Kayaking

Cost: $ ea. Reservations required.

Time: Every Saturday 10-12am

Location: Paddle or Pedal Rentals, Quiet Waters Park Basic Kayaking is a 2 hour course designed for new paddlers interested in increasing skills, safety, knowledge and enjoyment on the water. Course includes brief gear lecture, kayak entry and exit, multiple strokes, efficiency, and discussions on safety. Wet exits and T-rescues will be discussed and/ or demonstrated (water must be over 60 degrees). This course is based on ACA guidelines and will emphasize a solid foundation in beginner fundamentals.

Intermediate Courses and Roll Clinics

Cost: $ ea. 2 person minimum. Reservations required.

Time: By request only.

Location: Paddle or Pedal Rentals, Quiet Waters Park Rd.

Intermediate courses are also based on ACA guidelines. Class introduces students to advanced strokes such as J strokes, drawing skull, skull brace, high brace, low brace and low brace rudder turn. More T-rescue options are explored and self rescue paddle float techniques are examined. Spray skirts and wet exits are demonstrated. Towing is discussed. Prerequisite of Basic Kayaking is needed.

Roll Clinics teach the basics of self rescue without the need for wet exit and re-entry. Technique is broken down into small steps, and then built back up. All clients are not guaranteed success. More than one Roll Clinic may be necessary. Prerequisite of Basic Kayaking and Intermediate Kayaking is needed


Private Lessons, Adaptive Paddling and Rehabilitative Programs

Cost: $ ea. 2 hour minimum. Reservation required.

Private Lessons are available for all ability levels. One on one focus is tailored to your individual needs. Flexible scheduling is offered. Paddle or Pedal offers kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, pedal boats, rowing shells, a row boat, a sailing dingy and bikes as rentals. Quiet Waters Park lends large pavilions, plenty of open spaces, lots of parking, multiple water views, a visitors center with café and art gallery and miles of paved and unpaved shaded pathways that are excellent for biking, hiking, skating or walking.

Our Season

Twisted Creek Paddlesports opens the first weekend in May and closes November 1st.

General Information

Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. Secure your spots by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard via our Reservation page. Events with less than two clients 24 hours prior to an event will be cancelled. Clients will be rescheduled for next available tour or class. Advanced Instruction, Private Lessons and Group Events are by request only. Please call or use Contact page for pricing. All events go rain or shine with exceptions for thunder, lightning and high winds. See our cancellation and weather policies at the bottom of the Reservation Page. Our Release and Liability waver is also found there. Kayaks used are selected by your guide. Preferences will be considered. Single and double sit-ins and sit-on-tops are available. If you have special needs, please let us know. Clients should plan to arrive 10 minutes before scheduled time. Thank you.

About/Qualifications

Twisted Creek is owned and operated by Scott Roddy. A University of Maryland Graduate and an ACA Certified Level II Instructor. Experience includes over 12 years of teaching and guiding paddlesport events in the Annapolis area. Trained in CPR and WAFA (Wilderness Advanced First Aid). All events are led by trained and qualified instructors or guides. We are a proud member of the ACA (American Canoe Association) and Chesapeake Paddlers Association.
